Wish I had some good, sound buying advice for you, but alas, my balls are bigger than my brains and I love fast and loud. Listen to Tumbles, it's good advice. Also, and here's the real beaut, go to the dealership, and test ride a few different model types. You can pretty much make any bike look the way you want, but you won't know which one you like to ride until you've got your tush in the seat. Most HD dealers are pretty nice about letting you test ride, because it means they get to go ride too.

The beauty about owning a HD is that there is so many options out there for whatever you want...
Good base models are the Softail Standard and Dyna Superglide. You would be surprised how cheap you can pick one up that is still stock. And these bikes make a great canvas for whatever your imagination takes you, also you might enjoy a 80"-88" motor a little more than a sporty...
