Welcome to the Cajun HOG Chapter Gumbo Cook Off!
Gumbo has a rich history that started way back in the early 18th century in Louisiana.
It’s a delicious mix of French, Spanish, African, and Native American flavors. The name “gumbo” comes from the African word for okra, “gombo,” which is a must-have ingredient in many early gumbo recipes.
Over time, this stew has become a true melting pot, absorbing the unique tastes of different immigrant groups, each adding their own special touch to the recipe.
