Our friends and sponsors have had a bumpy few months. With the uncertainty of whether there will still be restrictions on gathering sizes, if our locations will be open and the fact that many of our champions have been out of work for months on end, we recently met to discuss the status of the 2020 OJ Alvarado Legacy & Remembrance Poker Run.
What we know, is that this needs to be a year of camaraderie, of remembrance, a year of giving back. This will be a ride, not a Poker Run. It will be a gathering of friends & family. If we have 10 or 110 people, we just want to gather, raise some praise, laugh & remember. Any number of wheels are welcome! One. Two. Three, Four. Heck, eighteen wheels! Come one, Come all!
We will not be doing silent or live auctions because our sponsors have a rough go of it lately. The committee will be putting together some prizes, but we aren’t going to have the massive impressive auctions we have had in past thanks to our many generous backers of the OJ Alvarado Legacy & Remembrance Run.
We will have a starting point and an ending point with suggestions of stops. If restaurants & bars are able to be open, we will stop, say hello & throw some support to those who have supported us over these many years. If they aren’t open, we will stop at parks & parking lots along the way, laugh, cry, tell stories, reconnect.
What we will also be doing between now & the run is to share who our sponsor have been throughout the years so that you can show your support to these businesses.
One thing that is heavy on our hearts & minds is that we are a sponsor of the Colorado Gold Star Family Weekend. We know that many of you have been experiencing hardships. We will have a donation boot up, if you are able to make a donation, please do, if you aren’t able, we want your company, your memories and your love for those we remember.
