Mount Dora – Sugarloaf Mountain – Howie-n-Hills

Earlier this year the LOVE group visited Bok Tower Gardens – This is one of the few higher elevations in Florida sitting at 298 feet above sea level. Sugarloaf Mountain is just slightly higher and is marked as the fifth highest elevation at 312 feet above sea level. According to

Wikipedia, “Sugarloaf Mountain is the most prominent point in the entire state.” We will stop and take in the panoramic views from the utmost point of the elevation.
From restaurant to Mount Dora will be just at 100 miles and just at 2 to 2.25 hours of riding. Most of the ride up will all be county roads and Florida Scenic Highways. We will travel short distances less than 3 miles on US 35, 33, and 27, only to get us to the next county road. After stopping on Sugarloaf Mountain for leg stretch and photos, we can choose to gas up before we head on into Mount Dora for lunch.

The way home will be more of a direct route catching 441 in Mount Dora and South on US 19 taking us through Howie-N-Hills onto State Route 50 to 471. State Route 471 divides the east and west sides of the Green Swamp. This direct route will be just about 100 miles and about 2 hours.
Breakfast at 8 am at the restaurant, kicks up by 9:00. I will have pre-planned the gas stops for the entire trip. I am looking forward to this trip; hopefully this rain will leave us. We should wrap up our day by 3:30 or 4:00, depending on when we leave out of Mount Dora.
