Smoke ‘em if you Got 'em

  •  Sometimes alcohol induced and most always testosterone driven, a great burnout in front of a cheering crowd is like winning a prize fight to many who have mastered the art of destroying rear tires.

At most of the major motorcycle rallies you’ll find at least one sponsor of a burnout contest. Usually free to enter, participants compete for little more than bragging rights with the winning purse rarely much more than the cost of a new tire. A “safe for spectators” pit or corral type arrangement is set up so that the participant merely has to ride up until the front wheel hits a block or hold downs, steady the bike and let her rip. Now that is not to say that busting out a good burnout, even if in a pit, is easy doings as any bike with the horses to break the bike tire lose is plenty capable and more than willing to buck it’s riders backside right out of the saddle.

Those “hold down” burnouts can be very lengthy and generate quite a cloud of smoke.

Sometimes the burnout isn’t over until you can see the rim!

They say we all have to start someplace but seriously? This is no way to impress the biker chicks brother!

And then there is the Real Deal Burnout, no wall to roll up against, no beer poured under the tire to get it to brake free and nobody hanging on to the bike to keep the rider upright, just pure, bad ass biker balls and horsepower!

An old school motorcycle rally is about the best place to catch some kick ass burnouts, they’re about the only thing that manages to draw more attention than the scantily clad biker babes roaming around flashing their breasts and collecting cheap plastic Mardi Gras beads.

  • Jimmyacorn I really don't know why anyone would subject their motorcycle to this kind of abuse; disregarding the tires
