The Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) “Road Show” continues to march on. In the last few weeks, MRF board members have been meeting bikers across the country to share what we are up to in Washington, D.C. and learn what you care about back home.
MRF President Kirk “Hardtail” Willard made the journey to the “Show Me State” to visit with the Missouri Freedom of Road Riders. Last year, Missouri hosted the 40th Meeting of the Minds in St. Louis. Missouri is also home to House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Sam Graves. Over the next two years, Chairman Graves will help draft a new highway bill that will have a dramatic impact on motorcyclists from coast to coast.
Kris Cook, the MRF Treasurer and Sustaining State Motorcycle Rights Organization Representative Traci Beaurivage, made the journey to the “Sooner State” to meet with the bikers in Oklahoma. ABATE of Oklahoma’s State Motorcyclists Improving Legislative Effectiveness (SMILE) event is the annual opportunity for bikers from across the state to discuss the priorities and strategies for advocacy at the state capitol in Oklahoma City.
Finally, MRF Executive Director Ryan Hubbard and lobbyist Rocky Fox had the pleasure of celebrating the 50th anniversary of the New Hampshire Motorcyclist Rights Organization (NHMRO). Like many motorcyclist rights groups, NHMRO hit a milestone this year, marking five decades of existence. Filling the night with good stories of the past and the realization that the work to defend our rights is never over. The walls at the event were decorated with old pictures and memorabilia that reminded everyone just how far we have come since the 1970’s. New Hampshire truly lives up to their state Motto, “Live Free or Die.”
In just the first 3 months of the year, MRF board members have visited 25 states. But we aren’t done yet! Where in the world will the MRF be next?
